The Future Is Now

World of Women NFT Review | Guide for 2022

Built on the promise to make Web 3.0 a more inclusive and equitable ecosystem, World of Women has quickly become one of the most popular NFT collections on OpenSea. The NFT collection received even more attention when it was announced that Reese Witherspoon’s media company Hello Sunshine had announced a partnership with World of Women. Hello Sunshine has ambitious plans to expand the NFT collection’s franchise a la entertainment properties such as movies, television shows, and unscripted programming. This is unprecedented in the NFT ecosystem so far, and a clear sign of the growing popularity of the NFT space. This article will delve into the origins of the World of Women collection, the team behind the project, and where this project is headed next.

World of Women is a collection of 10,000 strong and diverse women on the Ethereum blockchain. In addition to the 10,000 women on the Ethereum blockchain, the collection consists of 11 backgrounds, 14 skin tones, 27 clothes, 25 hairstyles, 23 facial features, 13 face accessories, 17 pairs of earrings, 15 necklaces, 9 mouths, 7 lip colors, 28 eye combinations.

With a floor price of 7.4 ETH, purchasing a World of Women NFT is not a cheap investment. World of Women was created by artist, illustrator, and designer Yam Karkai. While Karkai was interested in creating NFT art, she was surprised with how male-dominated the crypto space is. For instance, women only purchased 5% of NFT sales in 2021. Karakai launched her first collection in July 2021, and it sold out in under ten hours.. Karkai recently set the record for the all-time highest NFT sale by a woman at the auction house Christie’s.

In addition to Karkai, other members of the team include Head of Philanthropy Inna Modja, Legal Counsel Julia Loiseau, Community Manager Kashvi Parekh, artist liaison Dani Ton, and World of Women co-founder Raphael Malavieille.

In addition to upcoming movies and television shows with Hello Sunshine, The World of Women announced a partnership with play-to-earn metaverse game The Sandbox. The main focus of the partnership will be a $25 million dollar grant that will be used to bring crypto education to women. World of Women will be hosting a “WOW University” in The Sandbox that will teach entrepreneurial classes to both women and young girls. In addition to future airdrops, World of Women wants to further donate to charity, specifically charities that help improve female literacy and end child marriage across the globe. World of Women has also partnered with Code Green, an eco-friendly initiative that is looking to make the Web 3.0 more sustainable and off-set the environmental downsides of NFT technology.

The World of Women project also wants to make the leap from digital and physical, and plan on being featured in the world’s most iconic galleries and expos. In addition to movies and television, World of Women is also delving into music NFTs. World of Women will be getting its own album through an original score from David Magyel.

World of Women is now regarded as a blue-chip NFT project, and is nearly up there with Bored Ape Yacht Club and Crypto Punks in terms of popularity. World of Women has grossed 53,800 ETH or around $147 million in sales volume on OpenSea. 15% of WOW’s primary sales go towards the World of Women Fund, which is meant to highlight marginalized artists in the crypto space. World of Women often gives back to women-led organizations and charities through charity drops and partnerships.

World of Women teamed up with Billboard and launched NFT covers meant to honor three of the most iconic female singers in music history. (Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Christina Aguilera) World of Women has been endorsed by movie-stars like Reese Witherspoon to media moguls like Shonda Rhimes, as well as top NFT influencers such as Gary Vaynerchuk and Pranksy. World of Women has also been given a shoutout by One Direction icon and NFT advocate Liam Payne.

By succeeding in a male-dominated ecosystem, World of Women proved that it was something special. World of Women’s success is largely due to its mission statement, its community building and marketing initiatives, as well as its ability to earn endorsements from A-list celebrities. World of Women has kept its community engaged through hosting art contests, community grants to up-and-coming artists, and a myriad of fan merchandise. This is absolutely an NFT project worth keeping your eye on.
