The Future Is Now

VR sci-fi shooter Guardians Frontline gets big free update with huge new boss

A gigantic new monster, enemy portals, new weapon skins, and more await you in the latest update to Guardians Frontline.

The VR shooter Guardians Frontline from developer VirtualAge and publisher Fast Travel Games has received the extensive “The Queen Update”. It is now available free of charge to all owners of the game on Meta Quest 3, Quest 2, Quest Pro and SteamVR.

“The Queen” is a massive new enemy type. To defeat the beast as quickly as possible, you must aim for weak spots on its head and tail. But even the normal enemies get a new tactic in the form of “Nydus Tunnels”. These are portals through which they can jump between different points on the map at lightning speed. To take them out, you must destroy both the entrance and the exit.

Other new features in the “Queen Update” include new weapon skins, as well as tweaks, improvements, and bug fixes for various modes. A new in-game purchase pack is also available for Meta Quest players, containing research points, minerals, and exclusive avatars.

The “VR Halo” continues to expand

In Guardians Frontline, you fight as a soldier on the battlefield from a first-person perspective, or you can switch to a panoramic view and command your troops like in a real-time strategy game. Battle enemies and build bases in single-player or co-op with up to four players.

The game has already received several content updates, adding new enemies, power-ups, tech tree upgrades, map editing tools and improvements. Publisher Fast Travel Games has sold more than one million VR games, including critical favorites such as Vampire: The Masquerade — Justice, Apex Construct and Wraith: The Oblivion — Afterlife.
