After many years of development, the Somnium VR1 PC VR headset will come to market next month.
The official launch of the Somnium VR 1 is set for July 12, 2024.
There will be eight editions of the headset with different features:
On the day of the launch, Somnium Connect will take place in Prague, where the device will be demonstrated. Youtubers and the VR press will be present to try out the device. We recommend waiting for the first impressions or reviews before ordering.

Somnium VR1: background and specifications
Originally focused on the social VR platform of the same name, Czech startup Somnium Space is entering the hardware business for the first time with the Somnium VR1. The device has been announced in 2021 and is being developed in collaboration with VRgineers, a company that makes high-end headsets and simulators for the military.
The basic features of the Somnium VR1 include two QLED MiniLED LCDs with 2,880 x 2,880 pixels per eye, local dimming and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The optics use aspherical lenses with a field of view of 130 degrees (horizontal) to 105 degrees (vertical).
Eye tracking with foveated rendering, hand tracking from Ultraleap and passthrough cameras with a resolution of 12 megapixels each are available as optional modules. The device uses SteamVR tracking, so you will need the appropriate base station. Full specifications can be found in the image below.
