The Ray Ban Meta Smart Glasses are a bigger success than Meta expected. Meta’s partner EssilorLuxottica has to increase production.

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses were launched in October 2023. They can be used to take photos and videos, listen to music and podcasts, and make phone calls, among other things.

The first generation was released in September 2021 under the name Ray-Ban Stories and, according to a report, had a retention of less than ten percent.

The second generation features technical improvements across the board, comes in new models and variations, and includes a live-streaming feature. In the US, Meta is currently testing new AI features based on Meta’s Llama 2 language model, which will gradually be rolled out to all US users throughout the year. It is not yet known when these multimodal AI features will reach other markets.
