The Future Is Now

Meta reveals new trailer and story for Batman: Arkham Shadow

Batman: Arkham Shadow is coming exclusively to Meta Quest 3 this year, and now we have a new trailer and the first details of the story.

Batman: Arkham Shadow was teased with a short trailer in early May. As part of the Summer Game Fest, Meta presented another trailer that introduces the game’s story. Unfortunately, there is still no gameplay to be seen in this second cinematic trailer.

On the Quest Blog, Meta reveals the first details of the game’s story. Batman is up against the Rat King and his followers. They have kidnapped Commissioner Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent and are threatening to execute them.

Set between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins (2013) and Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009), players will experience the origins of familiar Batman characters such as Scarecrow, Harley Quinn and more.

There are also some new gameplay details. Players will be able to traverse Gotham City with the Grapnel Gun and glide silently behind enemies thanks to Batman’s cape. In melee combat, you will be able to deliver blows, parry attacks and perform brutal Arkham-style takedowns. You also have the batarang and smoke bombs at your disposal. In addition to combat, there will be detective work, puzzles to solve, and iconic locations to explore.

At the end of the trailer aired from the Summer Game Fest, it is stated that the official gameplay trailer will be revealed at Gamescom, which takes place this year from August 21-25.

Batman: Arkham Shadow will be released exclusively for Meta Quest 3 in the fall of 2024, and you can already add it to your wishlist on the Quest Store.

A potential Quest 3 system seller

Batman: Arkham Shadow is being developed by Camouflaj and Oculus Studios in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC. The VR game is an official new entry in the Batman: Arkham series and features the same mix of exploration, stealth and free-flowing combat.

It is one of the first VR games coming to Quest 3, but not Quest 2, and is designed to push the new hardware to its limits.

Androidcentral has done an interview with Camouflaj, in which the studio reveals more details about the story and game mechanics. Below are three images from the official website that look like screenshots, but according to the same, are not representative of the gameplay.
