The Future Is Now

Meta Quest 3: New Sci-fi VR game Expansion combines real-time strategy and deck building

The new sci-fi game Expansion for Meta Quest and PC VR combines strategy, deck building and space battles in VR.

Expansion VR combines elements of real-time strategy and deck-building, and features both single-player and multiplayer PVP modes. You enter a science fiction world and take on the role of a space warlord fighting for resources in newly colonized celestial regions. The game has been available as an Early Access version for Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro in the Meta App Lab and for Pico 4 in the Pico Store since March 14th. A PC VR version will also be released on Steam on March 22nd.

Developer Plazma Studio transports you to a future where humanity has solved problems like hunger and war. However, their unbridled ambition has led to devastating natural disasters and an ecological imbalance. As a result, you travel from the altered landscapes of Earth to the newly colonized regions of space — but you are not alone.

The game relies on precise strategic control through a clear VR interface and a variety of unique units with their own strengths and weaknesses. There are three playable factions: the Privateers, the Miners, and the Pigdogs. Each faction brings its own unique strategic elements to the game. In PVP mode, you will earn points to climb the ladder and unlock new units and technologies. Check out the trailer below to get a taste of the VR RTS gameplay.

Plazma Studio and its path to VR development

Founded in 2018, Plazma Studio originally started out developing casual games for mobile devices. Over time, the company has expanded its portfolio and is now also active in the development of VR games. In addition to its role as a developer, Plazma Studio is also a publisher for mobile and VR games.
