Meta Quest 3 is the best VR headset: These are the winners of the Auggie Awards 2024

15 years of Auggie Awards: Find out which XR innovations won awards at this year’s Augmented World Expo.

The winners of the 2024 Auggie Awards, Augmented World Expo’s annual XR awards ceremony, have been announced. The most innovative companies, developers, and creators whose solutions and products are driving the industry forward were honored in 19 categories. The winners were selected by a panel of independent judges.

Winning projects include Meta Quest 3 for Best Head-Worn Device, Pfizer’s AI and AR-powered Manufacturing AR Co-Pilot solution for Best AI Application, and Cisco’s Webex Hologram for Best Collaboration Tool.

The Pillow XR app, the first XR application designed for use in bed, won in the “Best Consumer App” category. Playbook XR was named best start-up. The platform enables even less tech-savvy users to create 3D content. You can find the complete list of all Auggie winners here.

The winners received a trophy designed by artist Sigal Arad Inbar. Four new award categories were introduced for the first time, making this year’s edition of the Auggie Awards the biggest yet.

In addition to the Auggie Awards, the first inductees into the XR Hall of Fame were also presented. A full list of inductees can be found here.

15 Years of AWE USA: XR history in Focus

AWE USA, the world’s largest conference and exhibition for augmented and virtual reality, celebrated its 15th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the event focused on the history of virutal and augmented reality.

A special XR History Museum showcased more than 80 AR and VR devices from the past five decades. In addition, the first 101 members of the newly created AWE XR Hall of Fame were inducted, including industry greats such as John Carmack, Palmer Luckey, and Tim Sweeney.

Through June 20, visitors were able to experience the latest developments and applications of XR technologies in 15 theme areas. AWE 2024 also offered workshops, networking opportunities and community meetings. To improve accessibility, all stages were equipped with AI-assisted captioning in over 75 languages.
