The Future Is Now

Meta Quest 3: Asgard’s Wrath 2 gets first visual enhancements

The first patch for Asgard’s Wrath 2 will be released this week, bringing two toggles for frame rate and enhanced rendering on Quest 3.

Asgard’s Wrath 2 was released on Friday and is currently bundled with Meta Quest 3, without being optimized for the new and much more powerful VR headset – which caused anger among some fans.

Meta responded on Saturday and promised a patch that would bring initial visual enhancements for Quest 3. This patch has now been officially announced on the Meta Quest blog and will be released this week, just in time for Christmas.

The patch brings two toggles:

Meta advises against overclocking of settings

You can enable both enhancements at the same time. However, Meta writes that not all scenarios could be tested with these settings. This means that stuttering may occur here and there.

Meta advises against experimenting with Quest 3’s CPU and GPU settings and increasing them to levels that are not officially supported (which can be done with tools such as Sidequest and Quest Games Optimizer). According to Meta, such settings may have “unintended effects on battery life and overall device performance”.

Meta has other visual enhancements in mind, but their feasibility needs to be evaluated first, so more graphics options will not appear until next year.

The full patch notes, which include various bug fixes and improvements in addition to the new toggles, can be found on the Meta Quest blog.
