Meta permanently slashes price for Quest 2 & accessories

Meta Quest 2 was as cheap as ever this holiday season. Meta has now announced that it will continue to sell the device at the low price.

FACTS

The Christmas discount was supposed to last until December 31, 2023. On the Quest blog, Meta announces that the reduced price will remain in effect starting January 1, 2024. The price of accessories will also be permanently lowered.

CONTEXT

If you want to buy a Quest 2 now and have patience, you might want to wait. There are rumors that the Quest 2 will be replaced by a much more powerful device in the same price range in 2024. The new model will reportedly have the same next-generation chipset as the much more expensive Quest 3, giving it more than twice the GPU power.

The Quest 2, released in 2020, could be replaced in 2024 by a next-generation device that costs about the same. Meta may be trying to clear out the warehouses with these price cuts.

If you want to buy a future-proof device that will support all new software for the next 3–4 years, you should not buy a Quest 2.
