Just Dance VR should have been a Pico 4 system seller, now it’s coming to Meta Quest

Just Dance VR was planned as an exclusive title for Pico 4. Instead, it is now coming to Meta’s competing VR platform.

Just Dance VR has been announced Meta Quest 3, 2 and Pro. It will be released on October 15, 2024.

The VR version of the dance and rhythm game features immersive 360-degree dance immersive environments and two-handed scoring. It offers private and public matchmaking, as well as a virtual home where you can invite other players for impromptu gatherings, mini-games, or a dance competition.

A social hub called Dancity will be an online meeting place for dancers from around the world where you can show off your skills. The Ready Player Me based avatar system will let you choose your body type, skin color, hairstyle, facial expression, and outfit. Unlockable outfit sets will allow you to further customize your look.

Just Dance VR was abandoned by Pico

Just Dance VR was announced as the only Pico 4 exclusive title for 2022.

Parent company and TikTok owner Bytedance has since significantly scaled back its VR ambitions, laying off a large number of employees and halting development of Just Dance VR and another rhythm game.

UploadVR later reported that Ubisoft would complete the project with the help of another partner. This partner, it is now clear, was Meta.
