HTC is starting to sell the compact all-in-one charger for the Vive Ultimate Tracker. Find out how much the dock costs and all the other details here.
HTC’s five-port USB-C charging station for the Vive Ultimate Trackers is now officially available for purchase. The VR hardware maker first unveiled the docking station at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of February. HTC sees the accessory for use in multiplayer VR arcades, corporate training scenarios, or in gaming, VR fitness, and VTubing.
The charging station allows up to five Vive Ultimate Trackers to be charged simultaneously. According to the manufacturer, the trackers can be fully charged in 3.5 hours using a 45-watt USB-C power supply. The station also has a storage slot for the corresponding Vive Wireless Dongle. Tracker for standalone and PC VR headsets
The Vive USB-C Dock is designed to work with the HTC Vive Ultimate Trackers. These are self-tracking body trackers that require no external tracking stations. Weighing 94 grams and measuring 77 × 58.6 × 27.3 mm, they are compact and ideal for self-contained VR headsets like the Vive XR Elite.
Originally, the trackers required a Vive headset to connect to SteamVR. However, a beta program now allows the standalone body trackers to be used with PC VR headsets from other manufacturers through SteamVR, including Quest headsets.
Two wide-angle FOV cameras provide precise 6DoF inside-out tracking. It connects to the VR headset via a USB-C dongle, allowing up to five trackers per headset to be paired simultaneously. The range is up to 10 meters.
With a battery life of up to seven hours and charging options via USB-C or Pogo Pin interface, the Vive Ultimate Trackers can be used flexibly. The price per tracker is $199 in North America, £209 in the UK, and €229 in Europe.
