The Future Is Now

Hitman 3 VR is coming to Meta Quest 3 in a new cel-shaded look

Agent 47 returns to virtual reality in Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded for Meta Quest 3 with new features and a new look.

IO Interactive has announced that the VR stealth action game Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded is coming to Meta Quest 3. Other Quest headsets will not be supported. IO has set a release date of summer 2024 and the price will be $30.

The VR game has been completely reworked for Meta’s VR headset and includes several new features. For the first time in the series, Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded introduces dual-wielding. This allows you to use two weapons or items at the same time, opening up new strategic possibilities.

Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded also features a new cel-shaded art style. This gives Agent 47 a new look and should increase immersion. The user interface has also been redesigned for the new VR version. It is designed for intuitive control and navigation. Movement options are said to be smoother and more natural, allowing you to move quickly and stealthily through complex environments.

IO Interactive promises many other improvements, from visual tweaks to refined game mechanics.

After PSVR and PC VR: Third attempt for Agent 47 in virtual reality

Hitman 3 has been available for consoles and PC since January 2021, concluding the World of Assassination trilogy. For the first Playstation VR, the game features a VR mode that makes over 20 locations from all three parts of the trilogy playable in virtual reality.

Graphically, the PSVR version of Hitman 3 scored high at the time with interactive objects, dynamic lighting effects, and a high level of detail. However, the controller’s controls had significant weaknesses, and the PSVR’s poor tracking also detracted from the experience.

In January 2022, Hitman 3 – Year 2 was released as an enhanced VR version for PC VR headsets such as the Valve Index, which also supports VR controllers. Unfortunately, the PC VR version had numerous bugs and glitches at launch.

However, the announcement of Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded for Meta Quest 3 shows that IO Interactive is willing to use the experience gained from previous VR conversions to improve the VR experience. Let’s hope they succeed.
