The Future Is Now

Escape Simulator’s new free VR mode lets you solve tricky puzzles in VR co-op

Escape Simulator gets a free VR update. Now you can experience the puzzles and adventures of the popular PC game in Virtual Reality.

On April 2, the free VR update was released for all owners of the PC version of Escape Simulator. It adds a full VR mode in first-person perspective to the game at no extra cost.

Good news for co-op fans: VR and non-VR players will be able to play together without any problems, the developers have confirmed. A standalone version for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro will also be released by the end of the year. However, there will be no separate VR version on Steam.

Community rooms are also playable in VR, but are still in beta. According to the developers, most rooms are working fine, but occasional issues are possible. There is a curated list in the game called “Verified for VR” with several maps that work well in VR.

To prevent motion sickness, the developers have included various options that you can customize. Several types of movement are supported, including smooth locomotion, teleportation, and snap and smooth rotation. There is also a sitting and standing mode. Many parameters can be customized in the settings to ensure a comfortable VR experience for any type of player.

Sale on release and price increase afterwards

As part of the development and expansion of Escape Simulator, especially with the introduction of VR, the developers are adjusting the price of the game. From April 14th, the price of the game will increase from $14.99 to $19.99, while the price of the DLCs will increase from $4.99 to $5.99. The studio is convinced that the new prices will allow them to support Escape Simulator in the long term.

Before the price adjustment, there will be a final sale: From April 2 to April 13, you can buy the game and its DLCs at the old price and get a 30 percent discount. The puzzle game, which was released in 2021, currently has a “very positive” rating on Steam with over 12,000 reviews.
